North Wind

North Wind comprise flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon. We share a passion for music and performance and play a wide variety of music ranging from baroque through to contemporary.We have performed regularly together since 1999 in a variety of venues, primarily in the North of England.

As well as concerts, we have also played for weddings, memorial services, car launchings, art exhibitions and formal dinners. Our programmes are devised individually to provide a variety of musical styles for each occasion.

Les Animaux

A soiree with an animal theme, in aid of Medicin sans Frontier, began with  Die Fledermaus overture, followed by The Three Ravens,  Messiaen: Abîme des oiseaux (clarinet solo), and The Sweet Nightingale. Jim Parker's Mississippi Five ended the first half. Gershwin's Promenade (Walking the Dog),  Berio's Opus Number Zoo and Saint Saens Carnival of the Animals (accompanied by our guest pianist Malcolm Moffat) concluded the evening.
