North Wind

North Wind comprise flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon. We share a passion for music and performance and play a wide variety of music ranging from baroque through to contemporary.We have performed regularly together since 1999 in a variety of venues, primarily in the North of England.

As well as concerts, we have also played for weddings, memorial services, car launchings, art exhibitions and formal dinners. Our programmes are devised individually to provide a variety of musical styles for each occasion.

St James and St Basil Fenham

As part of the regular lunchtime concert series held at the church, North Wind performed a selection of French wind music from the late 19th and 20th century. Ibert: Trios Piece Breve, Ravel: Mother Goose Suite and Saint Saens Romance for horn and piano. The concert ended with our first performance of Jean Francaix wind quintet.

Music Week at school

North Wind Quartet presented a programme of music for Music Week at Chillingham Road Primary School, Heaton.
Enthusiastic pupils enjoyed a selection from Brahm's Hungarian Dance, Peter and the Wolf, Teddy Bear's Picnic and a Harry Potter medley.

Birthday performance

A private birthday party took us to York to perform a selection chosen from Ibert Trois Piece Breves, Walton's Facade Suite, Reicha Quintet, Tea for Two, Mississippi Five, Hallum's Dance Suite as well as pieces by Sullivan, Elgar, and traditional folk arrangements.
